Salil Dhingra is the Business Head, Southern Africa at Dabur SA, responsible for production, distribution and marketing for their consumer brands.
The brands include Dabur Amla, Dabur Vatika, Dabur Miswak Toothpaste and ORS.
In addition to South Africa, Mr Dhingra also looks after SADC countries.
With extensive knowledge of the Southern African FMCG industry Salil has special interests in the importance of localisation of products and benefits for the end consumer, creating brand equity in FMCG, the role of consumer contact programs in ethnic hair as well as the South African retail value chain and its effect on consumers.
Born in the town of Amritsar in India, well-known for the famous Golden Temple, Salil obtained his Bachelors of Commerce degree Guru Nanak Dev (GND) University in India. He completed a MBA in Strategic Marketing at the London School of Commerce (LSC) in 2003.
When given an opportunity to transfer to South Africa in 2005, he realized that the chance to work in South Africa, which offers the best of both first and third world countries while developing a second world economy, could not be overlooked.
He is currently a member of the India Business Forum, South Africa and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
