Adani Green Energy Eyes South Africa’s $25 Billion Grid Expansion

Johannesburg, October 30, 2025 – Adani Green Energy, a subsidiary of India’s Adani Group, has emerged as a key contender in South Africa’s ambitious $25 billion transmission grid expansion project. The initiative, launched in December 2024, aims to construct 14,000 kilometers of high-voltage lines to integrate 34 gigawatts (GW) of wind and 25 GW of solar capacity over the next 14 years. The Independent Transmission Projects (ITP) program has attracted interest from 17 companies and consortia, including Adani Power’s Middle East unit, China Southern Power Grid International, State Grid International Development Co., and France’s EDF Power Solutions.
