Allied Blenders & Distillers, the third largest spirits company in India with volumes of 33.2 million cases, has announced the appointment of Paramjit Singh Gill as its president and CEO.

Gill joins ABD from United Spirits (USL) where he served as the president of All India operations. At ABD, he will be responsible to deliver profitable growth and strategic agenda with the senior leadership team directly reporting into him. Gill will directly report into ABD executive vice chairman, Deepak Roy.

Gill has 25 years of experience in USL and the parent UB group. In 1996, he took on a senior leadership role at United National Breweries, South Africa where he is said to have played a significant role in turning the company around from a loss making operation into a sustainable business.

In 2007, he returned as regional profit centre head of northern India for United Spirits where he played key role in strengthening the position of the company. Prior to joining the alco-bev industry in 1992, he worked for nine years in Glaxo’s food division.

Roy said: “I am confident that his rich experience, knowledge and proficiency will prove to be an invaluable asset to the company. ABD is poised for exciting times ahead with its proposed entry into premium segments. Paramjit with his vast experience and leadership will certainly ensure success in the next phase of our growth.”
