Sterlite Technologies Expands Footprint in Africa with Strategic Partnerships

Sterlite Technologies Ltd (STL), a global leader in optical and digital solutions, has significantly bolstered its presence in Africa through strategic collaborations aimed at enhancing broadband connectivity and digital infrastructure across the continent.

Partnership with Limpopo Connexion

In November 2021, STL entered into a strategic partnership with Limpopo Connexion, a subsidiary of the Limpopo Economic Development Agency. This collaboration focused on deploying STL’s advanced Business Support Systems/Operations Support Systems (BSS/OSS) platform to empower Limpopo Connexion in delivering next-generation digital services. The partnership aimed to facilitate the launch of applications such as e-education, telemedicine, and e-governance, thereby contributing to the region’s digital transformation. (stl.tech)

Deployment of Fiber Optic Infrastructure in Soweto

In October 2019, STL partnered with South Africa’s Frogfoot, an open-access fiber network provider, to deploy Fiber To The Home (FTTH) infrastructure in Soweto, Johannesburg. Utilizing STL’s Air-blown FTTH solution, the initiative aimed to provide affordable and reliable broadband connectivity to up to 20,000 homes in the Protea Glen East and West areas, thereby promoting digital inclusion in the region. Acquisition of Black Mountain Mines

In 2010, Sterlite Industries (India) Limited, the parent company of STL, completed the acquisition of a 74% stake in Black Mountain Mining (Pty) Ltd in South Africa.
