Larsen & Toubro’s Strategic Expansion in Africa’s Power Sector

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the Indian multinational conglomerate, has been actively expanding its footprint in Africa’s power sector, particularly in South Africa. In October 2024, L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) division secured significant orders in West Asia and Africa, valued between ₹5,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore. These projects aim to enhance high-voltage electricity grids, with a notable initiative being the construction of the National System Control Centre for Kenya’s electricity transmission company, KETRACO.
